- The old people made linen out of flax. This flax was grown in their own gardens like oats. When the flax flower fades away the flax is ripe and is ready to cut. It is not cut like other corn but it is pulled from the roots. It is then spread out on the land to dry. When dry it is gathered in bundles called "Ceartanna". It is then buttled scutched and hackled and cloved and then it is sent to the weaver to be woven in linen.
- Candles were made from a mixture of fir and rushes tied together and dipped in tallow.
